Drawing of Landsat 1982. This Earth observation satellite was called Landsat 4 after it was launched on 16th July 1982. It continued return images of the earth's surface until the early 1990s. Five Landsats were launched between 1972 and 1984 study the Earth's surface in various spectral bands from the visible the infrared with a resolution of about 30 metres (NASA Media Archives).
