The Saturn V rocket, carrying the Apollo 10 astronauts, Thomas Stafford, John Young and Eugene Cernan on their lunar orbital mission, lifts off from the Kennedy Space Centre's Launch Complex 39B at Cape Canaveral, Florida. Saturn V contained 3 million separate parts, was over 100 metres tall, weighed some 3000 tonnes at launch and its first stage engines produced a thrust of 7.5 million pounds.
