Viking 1 On Mars.

The picture shows the red Martian landscape and, to the right, trenches in the surface dug by the arm of the Viking lander for soil samples. Viking 1 was launched on 20th August 1975 and landed in the Chryse Planitia region of Mars to study the Martian environment.
