Cape Canaveral from Shuttle. This picture showing both Florida coasts, with Cape Canaveral readily visible in the centre, was taken by a camera fixed behind the nose of the Shuttle. The picture must have been taken soon after lift-off. The Space Shuttle, the world's first partially reusable launch vehicle, first flew on 12th April 1981 and has been used for all America's manned space missions (NASA Media Archives).
